What it is
Roblox is a platform of millions of experiences made by other users, not one game with one set of rules. Children play, chat, trade items, and join parties. Some experiences are gentle. Others are not well moderated, and chat can include people of any age.
Parental controls can limit chat by age. They are worth setting before the account is used, and they are not a reason to stop paying attention. The common pattern is a stranger who becomes a friend inside a game and then asks to talk on Discord, Snapchat, or somewhere similar.
What to look out for
- Chat or party voice with people they do not know.
- Anyone offering Robux, rare items, or "special" roles in exchange for a photo, a secret, or a move to another app.
- Experiences with sexual or violent titles that slipped past the label.
- A spending password saved on the device.
- Friends on the account that your child cannot describe.
Ways to stay safe

- Do not put your card details on their device. Not in the App Store, Google Play, the game, or PayPal. If you choose to pay, type the card in yourself for that purchase, then remove it.
- Turn on account restrictions and age-appropriate chat in the parental controls.
- Keep payments behind a password the child does not know.
- Agree that nobody online needs their real name, school, or photos, even for a trade.
- Look at recent experiences and the friends list with them.
- A request to continue the chat on another app is a stop, not a next step.
