What it is
Brawl Stars is free to download and free to play a match. The Brawl Pass is a paid track of prizes. Gems buy skins and offers. Children can enjoy the matches and never buy the pass.
What it costs: the pass and gems, repeating every season if nobody stops it. Clubs have chat. A public club is a group of strangers with a cute art style.
What to look out for
- A Brawl Pass bought at the start of a season, then again the next.
- Gems or “hypercharge” offers on a receipt.
- Club messages from people they have not met.
- A move from the club to another app.
Ways to stay safe
These steps are for Brawl Stars. The house rules still apply on every app.
- Do not put your card details on their device. Not in the App Store, Google Play, the game, or PayPal. If you choose to pay, type the card in yourself for that purchase, then remove it.
- Matches are the free part. The pass is optional and has to be a yes from you.
- Use a club you can see, or play without club chat.
- Card off the device after any purchase you actually agreed to.
In the news
Published reports you can read yourself. A headline is the proof, not a set of instructions, and this page does not repeat graphic detail.
- Top-selling mobile games breaking rules on loot boxes This BBC check is about random purchases in the top phone games. It does not name Brawl Stars. That game, from the Clash maker, sells a season pass and gems.
A way to start the conversation
You can say: "You can play the matches for free. The pass is extra, and it is not your button to press. If someone in the club wants your other apps, you tell me."
